Oregon Grappling Arts Adult BJJ

We provide each and every OGA student with the same level of hands-on technical instruction. Hobbyists and competitors alike benefit from our progressive and systematic introduction of techniques tailored to our students’ experience levels and physical capabilities. We believe that nearly everyone can make progress in jiu jitsu if they dedicate themselves to learning and applying high-percentage, competition-tested jiu jitsu techniques.

At Oregon Grappling Arts, we offer the following classes for our adult students:

Fundamentals

The idea of beginning a martial arts practice can be intimidating for many people. At OGA, we have designed our fundamentals program with this in mind. New students are progressively and systematically introduced to the main movements, techniques, and positions of jiu jitsu at a manageable pace. Live sparring is limited to the positions and techniques being explored in class to ensure that new students can participate in a productive way. No previous grappling, martial arts, or athletic experience is necessary.

Intermediate

Our intermediate classes focus on high-percentage, modern jiu jitsu techniques and place a greater emphasis on live sparring. These classes are geared towards students who have a strong understanding of jiu jitsu fundamentals.

Takedowns for Jiu Jitsu

The takedowns classes at OGA are all-levels classes, meaning they are open to fundamentals students and more experienced individuals. These classes teach students how to safely and effectively bring a resisting opponent to the ground within a jiu jitsu or submission grappling context. Experienced students perform full takedowns during live sparring. Live sparring is modified for newer students to involve standing gripfighting and takedown entries.
